Materials

Our products are made of materials that come from renewable resources. This helps our production have a smaller impact on the climate and environment.

Every new client for us is a step closer towards a greener and better world

We do it because we care – this is why all of our products are made out of renewable and sustainable raw materials. Todays technology has granted us with different natural ways to produce compostable packages made from for example PLA. Our products are in compliance with EN 13432, DIN13432 or meet ASTM standards for compostability.

CPLA

CPLA cutlery is made from PLA (polylactic acid) which is derived from plant starch, an annual renewable resource. The difference between CPLA cutlery and PSM cutlery is CPLA does not contain any plastic material. CPLA cutlery is 100% compostable. Commercial composting is required for biodegradation of the CPLA cutlery and it will compost within 180 days in a commercial composting facility.

Wood

All raw materials for wooden products are from certified sustainable forestry. They usually have a bio-coating for a comfortable mouthfeel. The sustainable wooden products are an ecological alternative to disposable plastic cutlery. Most commonly pine or birch is used to produce wooden cutlery and tableware. As a natural raw material, all wooden products are biodegradable and compostable.

PLA

Polylactic acid (PLA) or “corn plastic” is made from annually renewable resources, not oil. Some of the raw materials used for PLA’s production include corn starch, tapioca roots or sugarcane. PLA cutlery is compostable in commercial compost facilities, but unfortunately not in your home compost.

Cocoa Shell Fibres

Cocoa shell fibres are used to produce edible cutlery. Cocoa shell is a waste product from food production. The recipe used for our products is vegan, gluten-free and sugar-free. They also have a great cocoa taste. The taste doesn’t enter the dessert, however. Nutrition facts can be found in the product information.

Sugarcane

Sugarcane products are made from bagasse, a byproduct of sugar production. The bagasse protects the plates from moisture and fat through its natural properties. So our raw material doesn’t require any plantations – it already exists. The bagasse is ground for further processing and made into a paste. This is then pressed into a shape and the sugarcane products are done. After use, the plates can be composted in accordance with EN 13432 and are completely biodegradable.

Cardboard

Cardboard is produced by pressing together moist fibres, typically cellulose pulp derived from wood, rags, or grasses, and drying them into flexible sheets. Cardboard food containers usually have a natural bio-coating (PLA for example) which is petroleum free. This stops them from leaking. All cardboard containers are biodegradable according to EN 13432 as it is

Polycarbonate

Polycarbonate is an innovative new material which is shock resistant and virtually unbreakable. PC tableware can withstand temperatures from -40°C to +120°C. This makes them microwave safe, dishwasher safe (1500-2000 washing cycles) and cost effective. Thanks to its glasslike feel and looks it is perfect to replace glass. This helps to prevent injuries due to breakage. After long life tableware will be melted down again and made into new products.

Palm Leaves

Palm leaf tableware are made using traditional techniques of manipulating and pressing naturally fallen palm leaves. These fallen leaves are collected and soaked in spring water before being heat pressed into shape and dried in the sun. This process is totally natural with no coatings or other additives applied. Palm leaf tableware is completely natural and biodegradable from a renewable source.

Paper

Paper is particularly sustainable as a raw material for straws. It is plastic-free, petroleum free and made from renewable raw materials. Paper products have a neutral taste and they are biodegradable, recyclable and environmentally friendly. Some products such as coffee sleeves are produced from 100% recycled content with up to 85% post-consumer waste. They’re recyclable with other paper products and also BPI certified compostable.
